John Mayer made a special announcement on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

The singer revealed that he is currently recording his sixth studio album. Mayer posted a short video displaying his recording process in the studio. The clip doesn't give away too much information and simply shows Mayer working with equipment and playing some guitar. He's also heard uttering the words "I like it" after playing a few strings.

In addition, the Facebook post reveals that he will be posting a new video every Tuesday so fans can be updated on his process. Before the video ends, the hashtag #MayerIsBack also appears on the screen.

It hasn't been too long, however, since the singer was away. He released his fifth studio album just last year in May 2012. The album was titled Born and Raised, and it went to No.1 on the charts selling 219,000 in its first week, according to Billboard. It also spent 30 weeks on the charts. That record became his third No.1 beating Carrie Underwood's Blown Away and Apocalyptic Love by Slash of Guns N' Roses.

Mayer has also been posting some photos showing his studio sessions. One was posted on Twitter on May 22 with the caption, "JM's been busy in the studio...more updates to come." He tweeted another photo one day later with the caption, "Listening back."

"New record this Summer... Not a Born and Raised 'plus'...," he had wrote on his Tumblr blog in early May. "A new group of songs to bring the whole thing up to date with Summer 2013. I have that hunger that always precedes something meaningful."

The 35-year-old singer is keeping fans on their toes with these teasers. Still, let's see if the sixth album will manage to also debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
