Katy Perry & Robert Pattinson Dating Rumors: They're Only Friends, Source Says [VIDEO]
Katy Perry and Robert Pattinson may be spending a lot of time together but they are just friends, E! News reported Thursday.
Sources said that the Twilight actor and Wide Awake singer were simply similar people who had a lot in common. However, that is as far as it went between the two.
"Nothing is going on between Rob and Katy," a source said. "They are just super good friends. There is nothing romantic in it."
The source added that 28-year-old Perry only saw Pattinson as a friend and wanted what was best for him. There was allegedly no desire on her part for anything more.
"She adores him, as a friend, and she just wants to be there for him as a mate," the source said.
The nature of Perry and Pattinson's relationship has been under increased speculation ever since he broke up with Kristen Stewart earlier this month. A newly single Pattinson then crashed a wedding with the pop superstar on Memorial Day weekend according to PEOPLE.
The two watched from the back of a courtyard at San Ysidros ranch, as a strangers pre-ceremony preparations took place on Sunday afternoon. Perry wore a hoodie and big sunglasses. The pair enjoyed each other's company and were spotted sitting side-by-side, but a source told the publication that it was a platonic outing.
"There was no PDA between them and no body language that showed they were dating. They just sat together and watched," a source said.
Another reported suggested that Perry's feelings for Pattinson as a friend caused her to encourage him to dump Stewart. Life & Style alleged in their June 3 edition that Perry disapproved of the relationship between the Twilight co-stars. She believed Pattinson could do better than someone who cheated on him. Stewart publicly admitted to an indiscretion with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in 2012.
"Katy told Rob she didn't think their relationship could withstand the cheating scandal," an insider said. "And he deserved better than someone who would destroy a family [like Rupert's]."
