Bates Motel is looking to add some new members to the twisted Bates family for season 2.

The series, which just ended its 10-episode first season on A&E, will return early 2014, but plans are already being hatched by the show's producers.

"We would be remiss if we didn't meet some other members of the Bates family," said executive producer Carlton Cuse in an interview with TVGuide.

"I don't want to say who," he added, "but we are definitely going to learn about their family tree, which has more twisty branches."

With the revelation in the first season finale that she was forced to have sex with her brother as a child, Norma (Vera Farmiga) will likely be facing her past directly in season 2. Farmiga teased, "There is one family member I desperately want to meet."

However, it's not all bad news for Norma in the upcoming season. Cuse added, "Norma will find romance next year with someone we haven't yet met."

"She sure needs it," added Farmiga, "Her neediness gives her an urgent desire to touch and kiss Norman, and that need should probably be filled by someone other than her son."

As far as Norman's storyline next season, Cuse said that coping with the death of Miss Watson will be a factor.

"Coming to terms with Miss Watson's death is a component of next season. It's not the main narrative focus of next season but it is one of the stories we're telling."

Cuse added that the "Norman Bates as serial killer" plotline is not something that the show will be actively pursuing. Rather, he said, it's about the mother-son dynamic as well as the relationships in Norman's life.

Bates Motel will start shooting its second season in late July. It will premiere in early 2014 on A&E.
