Lindsay Lohan Rehab: 'Mean Girls' Star Wants Out of Betty Ford to Celebrate Birthday, Source Says
Lindsay Lohan is begging officials at the Betty Ford Center to allow her to leave rehab so that she can celebrate her upcoming birthday, RadarOnline reported Friday.
Lohan has been a patient of Betty Ford since May 3. The 26-year-old was sentenced to a 90 day court ordered rehab program at the treatment facility. The arrangement was part of a plea deal in her court case about lying to police officers. However, with her July 2nd birthday approaching, the site reported that the Mean Girls actress wanted to leave the center so that she could celebrate.
An insider told the site that Lohan has been begging her doctors to send a letter to the court indicating that she no longer needed treatment. The actress was allegedly determined to leave before her birthday,
"Lindsay has been asking her doctors to send a letter to the court, and prosecutors, outlining the progress she has made, and that keeping her there for 90 days isn't necessary," the source said.
The source added that the doctors have not been so quick to do her bidding. They would not recommend to curtail her treatment if they felt she could benefit from more time at Betty Ford. Furthermore, even if they did send letters to the court, Lohan's sentence was for a mandatory 90 days.
"Even if Betty Ford did send a letter, her plea deal said she had to remain there for 90 days. She won't be allowed to leave early. If she does, it's jail time," the source said.
Lohan did an interview with Piers Morgan before she entered rehab for the sixth time. In the article that was published May 4, Lohan expressed her frustration that she needed to be in lockdown. She likened her rehab stints to that of a student serving detention.
"I've been court-ordered to do it six times. I could write the book on rehab. Constantly sending me to rehab is pointless," she said. "The first few times I was court-ordered to rehab it was like a joke, like killing time."
