'Young and the Restless' Sean Carrigan, Standup Comedian Joins Soap Opera as Stitch [VIDEO]
Sean Carrigan is joining the cast of The Young and the Restless, Soap Opera Digest reported Thursday.
The standup comedian and actor will join the CBS daytime drama in the role of Stitch .His first air date is Friday, June 28. Stitch will be an old Army buddy of Dylan McAvoy. The role is recurring for now.
"Honored to be on Board!!... Thanks so much!!" Carrigan tweeted Thursday.
Carrigan has previously made appearances in The Event, The Flip Side, Hart of Dixie and Grey's Anatomy. Carrigan's addition to the show will mean even more storyline for Steve Burton who joined the Y&R cast in January after 21 years playing Jason Morgan on General Hospital. The soap alum quickly became a central character in Genoa City as the war veteran who used to be involved with Avery Clark. His character is now being led to believe that he is the father of Chelsea's baby.
Burton spoke to Access Hollywood about what made his alter ego's so different in January.
"Now that I'm here I feel like I can do a little more, show a little more of my personality 'cause Jason was always so confined... And now, [with] this character, I'm still trying to figure it out," Burton said.
Burton joked to the site that he would now be able to wear different clothes as his new character. Jason Morgan, a mob enforcer on GH, was associated with just a T-shirt, leather jacket and jeans. He expressed happiness that his wardrobe would see an improvement.
"It was all about that black T-shirt and the leather jacket, so if I can get rid of that and the hair that was like this (flips his hands up), I might have a chance," he said.
