The 50 Shades of Grey rumor mill just got a little more interesting in terms of the running for the groundbreaking role of Anastasia Steele, as Lindsay Lohan has recently come up in chatter for the part of the shy, college alumni.

Although the actress hasn't exactly done her movie career justice as of late, a friend of Lohan recently stated to Naughty But Nice Rob that she's now on the right path to rejuvenating her once promising career.

"She is going to clear house. She is going to rid herself of all the bad influences in her life and she plans to throw herself into work. She has changed, she really has changed and wants to prove it."

To top off the eye raising comments, the site also reported that the 26-year-old is actively in the midst of pursuing the seductive role.

If Lohan did end up nabbing the character, she would put herself in a good position to win the Oscar she notoriously said she'd nab one day.

"Lindsay needs a big high profile role. She needs to be part of a movie everyone wants to see and thinks Fifty Shades of Grey is a role she would be perfect for. She has read the book several times and knows this is a character that she can play. She wants to be part of something iconic, something that will live forever like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games. Now, she thinks she has found it," the friend added.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is currently working on the movie script, stated that it would be adhering to the context of the erotica with lots of sex and raunchiness. Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine.

Although the producers have yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, 50 Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in summer of 2014. The film will be shot in London.
