'The Killing' Season 3 Premiere Spoilers: New Case for Linden and Holder [VIDEOS]
The Killing returns for its third season on Sunday, June 2 despite being cancelled by network AMC last July.
The murder mystery series was cancelled by AMC after two seasons in July 2012. Many fans were upset that the "who killed Rosie Larsen?" mystery was not solved by the end of the first season, which led to declining ratings in the second season.
AMC decided to bring the show back on Jan. 15, 2013 and now The Killing will air its third season with a new case to solve.
Mireille Enos returns for the third season as Sarah Linden, a homicide detective in Seattle. She will again be joined by partner Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) as the two embark on a new case.
This time around, Holder's search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a series of murders. Linden, who had left detective work behind after the Rosie Larsen case is drawn back in to help Holder.
It has been confirmed that that series will wrap up the case within 12 episodes.
Actor Peter Sarsgaard has joined the cast in a recurring role as Tom Seward, a convicted murderer on death row.
Sarsgaard expressed his excitement for the new season:
"I think it's going to be very emotionally gripping. This season -- having seen the other ones -- is a lot less contemplative. It's a lot speedier and dynamic. It feels a lot more dangerous."
AMC has released several videos over the past few weeks to promote season 3.
