Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance since revealing she had a double mascetomy at Brad Pitt's movie premiere for World War Z on June 2 in London and stated that she felt wonderful.

Jolie, 37, wore a floor-length black Yves Saint Laurent gown to the red carpet. It was the first time the Gia actress was publicly seen since her admission in May that she underwent a double masectomy. Doctors told her that she was a carrier of the BRCA1 cancer gene.

Her appearance was widely anticipated by the media who have wanted an opportunity to speak with the star.

"I'm here for Brad. I'm so proud of him," Jolie told reporters.

The mother of six gave an update on her health and recovery. In addition to her double mascetomy, Jolie also shared that she would have her ovaries removed to decrease her chances of ovarian cancer. Her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died from the disease in 2007 and it influenced Jolie's decision to have the preventative procedures.

"I feel great, I feel wonderful, and I'm very, very grateful for all the support," she said. "It's meant a lot to me."

Jolie also opened up about the widespread support she has received since her op-ed was published in The New York Times. She was happy that it was creating a national conversation for women.

"I've been very happy just to see the discussion about women's health expanded, and that means the world to me," she explained. "And after losing my mom to these issues, I am very grateful for it. And I've been very moved by the support of people."

Jolie also heaped praise on Pitt for being a committed partner. The Moneyball star who battles zombies in his new flick, is even more gallant in real life according to his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star.

"He's been extraordinary," she said. "He's such a wonderful man and a wonderful father, and I'm very, very lucky."

Jolie's decision to attend the London premiere of World War Z meant that she did not attend the funeral of her aunt Debra Martin. Martin died in late May after battling breast cancer. Her funeral was held Sunday at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley. Martin's widow, Ron, explained to E! News that he understood why his niece would not be able to attend the service.

"Angelina will be in London on Sunday so she won't be able to attend but she has been in touch with us and with various other members of the family, which has obviously been lovely and has meant a lot to us," Ron said.
