Google has already confirmed the arrival of next-gen Pixel smartphones this year. Google had been working on Google Pixel 2 flagship models. The codenames for Google's next two flagship smartphones has been revealed in an official documentation. The similar documentation also states the hardware company may ditch the 3.5 mm headphone jack from these Pixel 2 models.
The next generation Pixel 2 flagship will forgo the 3.5 mm headphone jack was mentioned in an internal Google document seen by 9to5Google. This can be taken as something new been added or say been removed from the current Pixel following Apple's latest iPhone 7 offerings. They also mention that Google had been testing multiple Pixel 2 models with the variety of new chipsets like Snapdragon 83x and Intel ones and adds that as of now Google hasn't made any final decisions about ditching the headphone jack the new phone. The new features that may accompany Google's flagship model Google Pixel 2 may be waterproofing which was highly wanted by Pixel owners. The Pixel 2 will not be having an increased MP size in rear camera but rather it will be compensated in other features.
Since Google is planning to ditch off 3.5 mm Headphone jack from their next flagship model Google Pixel 2 then possibly the company would have to offer wireless headphones or find an alternative for consumers. BGR has mentioned the price of the new handset to be ranging similarly to the current version. Recently, Google's head of hardware Rick Osterloh at an event in MWC 2017 also confirmed the next Pixel Smartphone will remain in the premium segment as previous ones were. He didn't mention a specific launch date for the Pixel 2 Smartphone but Google will follow to continue to launch in the same timeframe in which previous ones did.
One cannot forget Google's past as Google's Nexus lineup was widely cherished by both critics and Android fan alike because of the pure Android experience they offered. Nexus smartphones are always ahead in terms of software but they equally fail and lag behind in terms of hardware. India Today states the Google outsources the design for hardware by third party manufacturers. Google after 8 years of their hold in Android, they decided to represent Google's version of a perfect Android Smartphone with the hardware and software seamlessly working together. Pixel stepped into the market with the best specification and smart UI features such as Google assistant, full resolution photo/video backup, and 24/7 customer support but then it had mainly problems such as LTE connectivity issues and microphone issues since their release. We can hope that the upcoming flagship model Google Pixel 2 will be fixing the flaws that were found in the predecessor followed by various other new features like Edge to Edge Quad HD Display, Dual Cameras, improved Google Assistant along with ditching of 3.5 mm Headphone Jack.
