America's Got Talent debuted its eighth season Tuesday night with some of America's best (and worst) talents on full display.

The two-hour premiere offered up singers, dancers, snakes, comedians and a guy named Tone the Chiefrocca ,who said he wants to be a one-hit wonder. As judge Howie Mandel said in a recent interview, you can't predict what's going to happen next on that stage, and that was truer than ever before.

Here are some highlights of the first episode.

David "The Cobra Kid" Weathers:

This act, which was featured heavily in promos for the new season, involved Weathers charming a snake and slowly blowing up a balloon in front of it. With suspense building, the snake eventually attacked the balloon, startling the four judges and the entire audience. He was sent through to the Las Vegas round.

Anna Christine:

This 10-year-old singer wowed the judges, displaying maturity well beyond her years. Christine played the piano while singing The Animals classic House of the Rising Sun. The performance made all four judges leap to their feet and give the girl a standing ovation. Judge Howard Stern said they may have just found a superstar. She was enthusiastically sent through to the Las Vegas round.

Catapult:

Captivating the entire audience, shadow theater group Catapult performed an elaborate jewel heist skit behind a curtain using just their bodies. After the performance, Stern made a point to stand up and bow down to the act, noting that he had never done the gesture for an act before. They were sent through to Las Vegas.

Special Head:

The 28-year-old street performer had much of the audience laughing him off as a joke when he made aborigine noises and wielded a massive stick. Stern pushed his "X" buzzer, startling fellow judges Heidi Klum and Mel B. It wasn't until Special Head managed to float in the air that all four judges sent him through to Las Vegas.

Tone the Chiefrocca and his hype man (brother):

Pumping up the crowd, Tone the Chiefrocca explained that his dream is to have a one-hit wonder song. The song he performed, called Booty, got all four judges on their feet dancing along to his rap. He was sent through to Vegas.

The second episode is scheduled for another two-hour block next Tuesday at 9 p.m. on NBC. The premiere repeats on Sunday, June 9 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
