Katy Perry & John Mayer Break Up But Robert Pattinson Hurts Chances of Them Getting Back Together, Source Says
A love triangle may be in the works for singers Katy Perry and John Mayer, and actor Robert Pattinson.
Mayer is reportedly upset at Pattinson and feels the actor is getting in the way of the singers rekindling their romance, according to TheImproper.com.
The Belfast Telegraph newspaper cited a source Wednesday that said Mayer was left "devastated" by his breakup with Perry.
"When Katy dumped John he tried to put a brave face on things," a source said.
The humbling experience has him doing whatever he can to get back in Perry's good graces, but Pattinson has squashed Mayer's recent efforts. The source added that "John wishes things could go back to the way they were, but believes Katy's friendship with Rob is getting in the way of a reconciliation."
Mayer was seen with Perry at a Memorial Day barbecue she hosted, and they appeared to be "definitely friendly."
An Us Weekly source claimed the two "seem to be back together - or back together-ish," adding, "they were very flirty and having a really good time together. They have good chemistry."
Pattinson has reportedly been leaning on Perry to help move past his relationship with Kristen Stewart, which ended in May. The actor and Wide Awake singer have spent much time together over the last few weeks, and were even sighted watching a wedding in Montecito, Calif., over Memorial Day weekend.
"Katy and Rob have been getting close and she has been advising him following his split with Kristen," the source continued. "She certainly knows how it feels to go through a rough breakup or two! She never thought it was a good idea for them to get back together."
There have also been reports of another breakup, this time of Stewart and Perry's friendship. A source for InTouch recently claimed that Stewart has been affected by the reports of the intensifying Perry-Pattinson friendship.
"[Kristen] feels hurt," the source said. "She feels betrayed."
Pattinson may not be around much longer. The actor is due to start shooting Maps To The Stars in Toronto on July 8 and filming won't be done until August.
