"Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury," said Vip Bhola, Shah's attorney, according to TMZ.
The incident occurred on May 19 while the R&B singer was performing his hit "Adorn" at the Awards, according to Us Weekly. Miguel attempted a jump, but instead his foot collided with Shah's skull and she crumpled to the floor.
"Got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay," the singer tweeted following the performance. "Rock and roll made me do it."
After the show, Miguel met up with Shah backstage.
"The crazy thing is, when you're performing and you're just kind of into it, you never know where it's gonna go and where you're gonna go with it, and how that might turn out," Miguel said, according to Billboard. "So this is one of the less favorable moments."
Shah's attorney says his client is undergoing neurological tests at the moment and he will decide what action to take following the results, according to TMZ.
