Nine Inch Nails 'Came Back Haunted' AUDIO Released, Single Off 2013 Album with September Release Date [LISTEN]
Metal band Nine Inch Nails is launching their big comeback with a new single and a new album in 2013.
Early Thursday morning the band released Came Back Haunted, the first single off their new album.
Listen to the new single here:
The 5½-minute song features lead singer Trent Reznor singing over a rock-heavy dance beat. The chorus features such lyrics as "I don't believe and I / I had to see and I / I came back haunted" with ghostly background vocals.
The song has a complicated mixing of sounds, especially near its climactic ending. Nine Inch Nails are well known for experimenting with their sound. Their comeback album, titled Hesitation Marks is scheduled for release on SepT. 3.
Reznor announced in late February the band was making its comeback after performing their "final tour" in 2009. He also announced that Nine Inch Nails would go going on a worldwide tour
"The band is reinventing itself from scratch," Reznor said in the statement. "The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014."
Going forward, Nine Inch Nails will feature an almost entirely new lineup, with Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv joining the band. Reznor, Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin are the only members returning from the band's original lineup.
In the statement, Reznor promised that there will be new sounds from the band:
"I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be,"
"This is just the beginning..." he promised.
The tour dates and locations have been released and can be found on the Nine Inch Nails website.
