Justin Bieber in Space, Flight Trip on Virgin Galactic Booked With Leonardo DiCaprio & Others [VIDEO]
Justin Bieber signed up for a spot on a suborbital space flight with Virgin Galactic, airline founder Richard Branson revealed Wednesday.
"Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts. Congrats, see you up there!" the billionaire mogul wrote on Twitter.
The 19-year-old Believe singer did not comment on the claim but he did retweet Branson's message to his 40 million Twitter followers. His manager, Scooter Braun, did the same while adding, "I'm going to space momma!"
Bieber has a fascination with space that he first revealed back in February, tweeting, "I wanna do a concert in space." The message prompted NASA to reply, "Maybe we can help you with that."
Tickets to ride the Virgin Galactic's rocket-powered SpaceShipTwo cost $250,000 a seat and deposits are refundable, according to spacecraft's official website.
Virgin Galactic's latest test of SpaceShipTwo launched from California's Mojave Desert in April and the spacecraft broke the speed of sound in its first powered flight.
Bieber is not the only celebrity to book a ride on the Galactic. Leonardo DiCaprio has a seat and as part of the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS charity auction, held during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, one bidder won a package that includes a trip on the Virgin Galactic next to The Great Gatsby star. The bidder paid $1.5 million to win the auctioned deal. Other celebrities reportedly scheduled to be aboard the flight, expected to take place in 2014, include Angelina Jolie, Stephen Hawking and Tom Hanks.
