Duggar's clothing liberalism emerges during 'Counting On' season; Jeremy says no sin for women to wear pants
Clothing standards seem to be already loosening up in Duggar family, but the family's extreme conservatism still rules by and large.
During the current "Counting On" third season, Jinger Duggar recently showed he could wear shorts, and as to the issue of women wearing pants, pastor Jeremy Vuolo said in his latest sermon that he sees no sin when it comes to women in pants.
It is at the liberty of a woman to dress albeit modestly "with a modest pair of pants.... or with a T-Shirt, or with a blouse," Jeremy said, and this is loosening up the conservatism standards that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are vigilantly protecting.
Jinger's showing of himself wearing shorts on the social media was posted by Jeremy himself. It created a little online uproar.
Jeremy admitted that he does believe in the virtues of dressing modestly, thus running in conflict with the provision of conservative clothing to "honor the Lord" in the Duggar rules.
However, the huge Duggar family would not yet officially unloosen and shed few pounds of their extra conservative Baptist beliefs and tradition. The family is not perfect and there are just members having liberal ways and thinking but they still follow the conservative rules by and large.
This little shedding off of conservatism is one development in the Duggar family during the current "Counting On" third season. The Duggar's mark of extreme conservatism comes in tune with current challenging times in the U.S. characterized by rising of alt right fanaticism.
But the strange beliefs of the Duggars and their rules on strict family conformity, male hierarchies and subservient roles for women are themes that definitely make this reality television show popular.
The huge Duggar family became the cast of "19 Kids and Counting" (formerly "17 Kids and Counting" and "18 Kids and Counting"), an American reality television show aired on the cable channel TLC for seven years, from September 29, 2008, and concluded on May 19, 2015.
TLC suspended the series on May 22, 2015, after Josh, Duggars' eldest son, admitted in public he committed child molestation that resulted to a national issue and uproar. "Counting On" became the spin-off show and was aired in December 2015. It is currently is in its third season.
