FX CEO John Landgraf said on Thursday that the third season of American Horror Story might get a companion series.

The show would be similar in nature to The Talking Dead, the talk show that airs directly after new episodes of AMC's The Walking Dead.

"I'd love to do it," said Landgraf, "We're thinking about it. If we do it I don't think we'll necessarily do it the way AMC does, as a linear thing. We might do an online thing. We haven't made a final decision but I think there's a decent possibility we're going to do something like that for Coven."

He added that though he hasn't found a potential host for the show, he has done "a fair amount of legwork" to get the show produced.

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy teased reporters in March that he was talking with Landgraf about producing a companion series but details were unclear.

AMC's foray into companion series has proved successful; The Talking Dead received 5.2 million viewers for its March finale. The network is also planning a companion series for Breaking Bad when it airs its final eight episodes this summer called Talking Bad. The Talking Dead features host Chris Hardwick and special guests (such as members of the cast) chatting about the episode of The Walking Dead that just aired.

American Horror Story: Coven will have an all-star cast, with returning favorites Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe joining new additions Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone, Emma Roberts and potentially J. August Richards.

Very few details have been released about the new season, but spoilers have gradually been leaking about the characters and plot. Coven will be about witchcraft and will be primarily set in New Orleans.

As far as character details, LuPone confirmed that she will be playing a member of the religious right like Piper Laurie in Carrie and Roberts will be playing Madison, a self-involved party girl.

American Horror Story: Coven is expected to premiere in October 2013 and end in January of 2014.
