The MTV Music and TV Awards aired last night, and while there were the occasional spark of brilliance, there was also quite a few confusingly strange moments.

Sticking to the positive notes, the night was filled with moments that ranged from heartwarmingly brilliant, to memorably entertaining. One of the primary standouts of the night was when Millie Bobby Brown, renowned for her role as Eleven on Stranger Things, received her award for winning the best actor in a show. Breaking down in tears during her acceptance speech, Brown chocked out a thank you to the creators of Stranger Things saying "they've created a badass female iconic character that I've got the honor to play." After a speech as moving as hers, there wasn't a dry eye in the audience.

Another major positive moment of the night was when famed actress, Emma Watson, received the award for best actor in a movie for her role as Belle in Beauty and The Beast. Watson took the opportunity to acknowledge the uniqueness of the gender neutral award, saying how "The first acting award in history that doesn't separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience."

As strong as the good moments in the night were, there were also quite a few duds. While it would be best to not acknowledge Noah Cyrus's performance of her new song Stay Together, the half-baked vocal left a lot to be desired and pales in many ways when compared to her sister Miley Cyrus. Additionally, should it even be acknowledged when host, Adam DeVine, ripped off his shirt and jumped off stage?

Here is to another great year of music and television! Hopefully next year there are even more memorable moments to celebrate.
