'The Avengers 2' Cast Rumors: Aaron Taylor-Johnson Is Early Front-Runner For Quicksilver
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is rumored to be the front-runner for The Avengers 2 role of Quicksilver.
The young Brit is familiar with the world of superheroes after he snagged the title role for Kick Ass in 2010 and is currently reprising his role in a sequel. Now sources tell The Wrap that the 22-year-old has attracted the attention of The Avengers 2 crew to play one of their new additions.
However, the casting process seems to be in its early days, and Deadline claims Taylor-Johnson's prior engagements may keep him from joining the Marvel lineup.
Quicksilver is the son of Magneto and is also making an appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. X-Men helmer Bryan Singer scooped up Evan Peters (also of Kick Ass) to play his super speedy character, but this is the first real Quicksilver casting news that has come from Joss Whedon's camp.
Whedon made the decision to include Quicksilver and his sister Scarlet Witch to add a little more tension to the world of the Avengers.
"You know, they had a rough beginning," Whedon told IGN. "They're interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn't necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they're not there to make things easier. I'm not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier."
Neither role has officially been cast.
