Kelly Rowland New Song 'Gone' featuring Wiz Khalifa, [LISTEN]; Album 'Talk a Good Game' Release Date June 18
Kelly Rowland released another song off her new album, this one featuring Wiz Khalifa and a sampling from Joni Mitchell.
Rowland released Gone Monday on her official SoundCloud page. An up-tempo, R&B track, Gone features a sampling from Joni Mitchell's 1970 hit, Big Yellow Taxi. The latter was also sampled on Janet Jackson's 1997 song Got 'Til It's Gone, serving as the chorus. The line in both Got 'Til It's Gone as well as Rowland's Gone is: "Don't it always seem to go / that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone."
Throughout the track Rowland sings about telling her significant other that she's breaking up with him, using lines like "it's over," and "the mess is yours to clean so don't be looking at me." Khalifa raps from his side of the relationship, telling Rowland "you like to break up, then make up" and that she can get her stuff while he'll "get back to getting' high."
Gone is track 3 on Rowland's 15-song album, which is currently available for pre-order on iTunes.
Many songs from Rowland's upcoming album Talk a Good Game have been released, including her first single Kisses Down Low in February and the revealing Dirty Laundry in May. You've Changed, featuring former Destiny's Child bandmates Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Williams, was leaked in late May.
It was announced in late May that Rowland would be joining the third season of The X Factor as a judge, alongside Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and Paulina Rubio. She was a judge in 2011 on the U.K. version of the show.
Talk a Good Game will be released in select countries starting on June 14. It will continue to roll out until its June 18 U.S. release date.
