Jiah Khan Letter, Suicide Note Found and Boyfriend of Bollywood Actress, Suraj Pancholi, Arrested [VIDEO]
The boyfriend of Jiah Khan was arrested on suspicion of abetting suicide a week after the Bollywood actress died, The Times of India reported Tuesday.
Suraj Pancholi, the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was taken into custody by Indian officials Monday. Authorities believe that Pancholi was not present at the time of the actress's suicide but the actress left behind a six page note in which she accused an unnamed person of ruining her life. Jiah's mother, Rabiya Khan, identified Pancholi as the abuser.
"We registered an FIR under the IPC's section 306 (abetment of suicide) on the basis of Rabiya Khan's statement and arrested Suraj. We will produce him in the Andheri court on Tuesday for remand," senior inspector Arun Bhagat of the Juhu police station said.
Jiah's suicide letter was found by her family and alleged that she was the victim of rape and forced to have an abortion.
"I don't know how to say this to you but I might as well now as I have nothing to lose. I've already lost everything. If you're reading this I might have already left or about to leave. I am broken inside. You may not have known this but you affected me deeply to a point where I lost myself in loving you. Yet you tortured me everyday. These days I see no light I wake up not wanting to wake up. There was a time I saw my life with you, a future with you. But you shattered my dreams. I feel dead inside," Jiah reportedly wrote.
The police also added that Pancholi, 22, spent the final days of Khan's life with her and had an argument before she died. Pancholi and his family have not yet commented on the charges and the accusations contained in Khan's letter. He will be jailed until June 13.
Rabiya held a press conference on Monday in India. She once again denied that her 25-year-old daughter killed herself because there was difficulty in finding work. The grieving mother blamed her late daughter's boyfriend.
"She was attending at least three to four events a month. She was making money and was living comfortably in her house with two maids and even had a car and a driver. It was the insecurity that her love was not respected and recognized that was killing her day by day," Rabiya said.
Khan was found dead of a suspected suicide on June 2 in her Mumbai apartment and it was believed she killed herself. Services were held June 5 and she was was buried at Juhu Muslim cemetery after Zohar prayer as per Islamic rites.
