'The Avengers 2' Movie and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Will Not Share Characters, Says Joss Whedon
While Marvel Studios spent Phase One intertwining the stories of The Avengers cast, Joss Whedon recently stated that Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2 cast will not be sharing characters.
Although Whedon's Avengers 2 crew will be shooting at Shepperton Studios shortly after James Gunn's Galaxy film wraps, the two will not be creating any crossovers.
"We're following Guardians at Shepperton," Whedon said, according to Bleeding Cool. "but we won't be swapping cast members. Every movie is its own thing and has to be. Unless I take a lot of peyote and write a very different draft... and I'm not ruling that out."
However, this news means that Thanos, who has been long rumored to be the villain in at least on of the two future Avenger films, stands less chance of appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Actors that will find themselves in Guardians include Star Trek's Zoe Saldana, Doctor Who's Karen Gillian, and The Hobbit's Lee Pace as well as Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreations and Glenn Close.
Rumored to be returning to The Avengers are Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America. The rest of the team is still unconfirmed, particularly Robert Downey Jr.'s role as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
