Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shiver: Former Couple Still Aren't Officially Divorced
Back in 2011, Maria Shriver filed for divorce from her husband Arnold Schwarzenegger after it was revealed that Arnold had a secret affair and child with the estranged couple's former housekeeper.
Six years have gone by, while the couple is legally separated, it seems that they still aren't officially divorced.
According to TMZ, Arnold is the apparent reason for the delay.
The Terminator star isn't taking the necessary steps needed to end the marriage. Does this mean he's hopefully looking to reconcile with his estranged wife?
The former couple recently reunited with their children: Katherine, Christina, and Patrick, at a red carpet event in Los Angeles, California.
The family came together to support Patrick in the National Geographic film, The Long Road Home.
Maria, 61, and Arnold, 70, were married for twenty-five years when Maria moved out of their Brentwood Mansion. Arnold had come clean to Maria about the affair he had with Mildred Patricia Baena, which led to him fathering a child with Baena, Christopher.
"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger said in a statement to The Times.
Arnold alleges that he did not know he was the father of [Christopher] until he was eight years old but has taken care of the finances, 'from the beginning'. After this was announced, actress Bridgette Nielsen also claimed that she had an affair with Arnold, while he was in a relationship with Shriver.
"Maybe I wouldn't have got into it if he said 'I'm going to marry Maria' and this is dead serious, but he didn't, and our affair carried on," Nielsen stated.
Baena was also married while working for Shriver and Schwarzenegger, she and her husband divorced in 2008.
Schwarzenegger is known for starring in numerous hit films, such as The Terminator series, True Lies, The Expendables, and End of Days. The former mayor and bodybuilder is scheduled to star in the next Expendables film, which will be released in 2018.
Shriver is a member of the Kennedy family, as she is the only daughter of Eunice Kennedy, who was the late President John F. Kennedy's sister. Eunice died in 2009.
Shriver and Schwarzenegger are also parents to their son, Christopher, who ironically shares the same name as his paternal half-brother.
It has been reported that as of July 2015, Arnold has been in a relationship with Heather Milligan, who is 27 years younger than him.
