'American Idol' Winner Candice Glover Drops 20 Pounds
Candice Glover wowed American Idol viewers with her voice during season 12 and now the singer is debuting her impressive slimed down frame.
The South Carolina native revealed to In Touch that she has dropped 20 pounds since she started American Idol back in January. According to Glover, she also lost 25 pounds prior to the competition.
While the 23-year-old admits that the pressure and the pace of the competition played a contributing role in her quick weight loss, there was also this underlying desire to prove to Idol judges that she was marketable.
"It kind of hurt my feelings when I would hear them say like, 'Oh my gosh. You're so current. I could hear you on the radio today' and then they'd tell me my vocals are cool, but what does marketable mean? What do I need to do? Do I need to lose weight? Should I wear my hair a different way?" Glover wondered in an interview during the Idol process, according to Christian Post.
So, in between the running around, the stress, and the occasional forgotten meal, Glover began looking at dieting for reasons other than for health and personal reasons.
"Every time we have a chance to eat, it's like, 'Oh, I'll just eat this burger. I'll just eat it this one time. And then next week I'll get a salad,'" Glover said, according to People. "But you have to put the burger aside and do what you've got to do, because you want to look like a star."
A recent picture on Glover's Twitter shows the singer at a photo shoot and is captioned with a fan's question asking, "You lost weight?"
Glover's reply was a happy "Yes :)."
Glover is currently working on her upcoming album Music Speaks.
