Remy Ma 'Wake Me Up': Rapper On Why Vincent Herbert Is Her Manager, Not Husband Papoose
While Vincent Herbert is going through a public divorce with his estranged wife Tamar Braxton, his career seems to be looking up for the better. It was recently revealed that Herbert replaced Remy Ma’s husband, Papoose, to manage the rapper. Now, Remy Ma has explained why she made the switch.
Remy Ma Chooses Vincent Herbert Over Papoose
Remy Ma, whose most recent fame sparked after she starred in Love and Hip Hop: New York, opened up about what caused her to not only hire Herbert but remove Papoose from the manager role of her growing and successful career. She said it was simply the best thing to do for her career and relationship.
“So the thing is this, with my husband by my side, I managed to get two Grammy nominations, Soul Train Award, BET Award, Gold singles, Multi-Platinum singles, and we did all of that with just us two independently,” said Remy Ma according to The Jasmine Brand Wednesday. “… Now I’m like ‘I want my husband back’, and want to take it to the next level, not because he did a bad job, he did a great job, and he’s always gonna be there.”
All Is Still Well With The Couple
It seems like things are going great with her new representation, Herbert, who has also managed greats like Braxton, Grammy-awarded winning singer Toni Braxton and Lady Gaga. Remy Ma said that while Herbert is “doing a great job,” Papoose still isn’t completely hands-off and monitors to make sure Remy is protected in all avenues of her career.
It’s safe to say the couple will be going strong for quite a while. Fans saw their romance bloom on Love and Hip Hop: New York just after Remy was released from a six-year prison sentence. Papoose and Remy tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that aired on VH1. This was the second time the two said their vows as their first time was over the phone while Remy was in jail.
Remy Ma & Lil Kim Make Amends
In her latest venture, Remy released a new song, Wake Me Up, featuring her former arch nemesis, Lil Kim. Remy also explained during the interview how she and Lil Kim buried the hatchet to the point where they could make music together.
She said the two were partying together for rapper Fabolous’s birthday and both wanted to get over the drama.
“I’m in my section, and she’s in her section, and it was so weird because she had sent somebody to come to my section to say she wanted to talk to me at the same time I sent someone to her section to say I wanted to talk to her… from there, we always stayed in contact.”
