One Direction Twerking VIDEO to Drake's 'The Motto,' Performance During Miami Concert Part of Take Me Home World Tour
One Direction took on the viral twerk dance at a June 14 show in Miami, Fla., though the United Kingdom singers admitted that they were not sure the correct moves to begin with.
The challenge came from a fan on Twitter during the live-question portion of the concert. The only problem was that Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik were not quite sure how to do it. Footage of the scene, shown below, features them gathered around Horan onstage, who took out his phone to do some research on the dance style popularized by Miley Cyrus several times.
"We're on YouTube right now looking up how to twerk!" he told the crowd.
After talking it over and doing a few practice moves, the guys spread around the stage and gave the audience a show that later went viral on YouTube. Payne requested Drake's The Motto to be played by 1D's backing band and he then began rapping the song's lyrics, as the rest of the group lined the platform.
The footage was uploaded to the video sharing website on June 14 and at time of publication already amassed over 40,000 views.
One Direction performed in Miami as part of their Take Me Home world tour. Following the June 14 concert Payne tweeted, "Loving miami :) thank you to everyone who came to see us :) whoopwooppp." Styles on Instagram uploaded a photo of the crowd that filled the Miami arena and he captioned the image, "Thank you Miami.. You were so good. See you soon .x"
Cyrus, who made the dance routine recognizable to millions when she did it in a unicorn onezie back in March, performed the style most recently on stage with rapper Juicy J. See the video here.
