Celebrity Beauty Trends: Thighlighting Is The New Plastic Surgery Procedure Sweeping Hollywood
We've all heard of women getting breast implants, nose jobs, and Botox injections to achieve their desired figure but have you heard of thighlighting?
Thighlighting is a new plastic surgery trend that is sweeping through Hollywood as more and more women request thighs like Bella Hadid, Jennifer Lopez, and Kendall Jenner.
What Is Thighlighting?
Thighlighting is the name given to a series of leg-based cosmetic surgery that gives the patient a full leg makeover. While it is usually tailored to meet a woman's request, thighlighting can include a variety of procedures including thigh lifts, calf implants, contouring of the inner and outer thighs, and liposuction.
The outcome of the procedure is slimmer and toned legs that make the patient look taller and also helps the woman's body look more proportionate. The entire procedure lasts only a couple of hours and most patients are typically discharged on the same day.
"Thighs are always an area of concern for women," Chiu told The Hollywood Reporter. "Also, thighs are an area that makes a dramatic difference in the overall body. When contoured right to elongate the legs, they can help create a better proportion, thus the entire physique looks leaner and longer."
Dr. Esho of The ESHO Clinic in London, England also endorsed Chiu's statement. He told The Independent that women nowadays are becoming increasingly worried about the appearance of their thighs and opting for thighlighting to shape their thighs as well as help elongate their legs.
Thighlighting can also be achieved without the patient having to go under the knife. The Georgia Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic makes this happen with a combination of nonsurgical procedures like laser hair removal, Coolsculpting, and ThermiTight among other methods.
Trend Inspired By Celebrities On The Red Carpet
The trend has been made popular by celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner, who wear high-slit gowns on the red carpet that leave the thigh area exposed, according to Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gabriel Chiu.
Miami-based plastic surgeon Rian Maercks also pointed out that patients request that their thighs will look exactly like the legs of Taylor Swift, Lopez, Karlie Kloss, Hadid, and Jenner.
However, this cosmetic procedure is not light in the pocket. While the cost of thighlighting varies depending on the patient's target areas, Dr. Esho said a complete thighlighting procedure can cost more than $9,000.
