‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Character Guide: The 8 Characters You Should Know About
On Dec. 15, Star Wars fans will pack into theaters to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the latest chapter in the science fiction franchise.
The Last Jedi is expected to be a building block in expanding the new Star Wars universe. Enstarz has created a character guide for you to make sure that moviegoers are not only mentally prepared for this chapter, but also to debrief on the eight characters that are sure to make an impact on the film.
Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)
The most prominent character that everyone will have their eyes set on is the legendary Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker. In The Force Awakens, both the Resistance and the First Order were in a race to find him. The mysterious Jedi Master was in self-exile until the force-sensitive Rey tracked him down. But will he train Rey in the ways of the Jedi? Or will he follow his deceased father, Darth Vader, to the dark side?
General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher)
Princess No More! The former Rebel Alliance icon is now one of the top leaders of the Resistance. Sadly, General Leia's life is a mess as she lost her son, Ben, to Supreme Leader Snoke's influence and sensed that Kylo Ren killed Han. She has also spearheaded the campaign to find her brother, Luke Skywalker, before Kylo Ren and the First Order. The Last Jedi is expected to be Leia's final appearance in the Star Wars franchise as actress Carrie Fisher tragically passed away last year.
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo (Adam Driver)
The former Jedi has followed his grandfather, Anakin Skywalker, to the dark side. After killing his father in cold blood, Kylo Ren shredded his Ben Solo persona. Now as Supreme Leader Snoke's right-hand man, Kylo Ren is ready to wipe out the Resistance and looks to convert Rey to the dark side.
Rey (Daisy Ridley)
It seems like the fate of the entire galaxy falls into Rey's hands. The former scavenger turned Resistance ally is powered by the Force. After losing her only father figure to Kylo Ren, Rey found Luke Skywalker and will ask him to train her in the ways of the Force. But after seeing one student go rogue, will Master Skywalker say "No?" Also, Adam Driver hinted that fans would be surprised when they learn about the identity of Rey's parents.
Finn (John Boyega)
The former Stormtrooper deserted Captain Phasma and the First Order and joined the Resistance with Rey. The unlikely friends formed a strong bond which grew stronger after they watched Kylo Ren slaughter his father. While Finn bravely tried to hold his own against the Sith Lord, he was put into a coma. When he wakes up from his coma, fans will see Finn display his strengths and weaknesses in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac)
The Resistance's ace X-wing fighter pilot was nearly killed by Kylo Ren and the First Order until rogue Stormtrooper Finn rescued him. As their friendship blossomed, he met Rey who helped him reunite with his astrometric droid: BB-8. At the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Dameron destroyed the Starkiller Base. But what will Poe do when the First Order pushes back?
Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie)
No one wants to be on the First Order's Stormtrooper commander's doghouse. Captain Phasma has a hard-on for deserter Finn, who along with Han Solo and Chewbacca sent to the Starkiller Base's garbage disposal in The Force Awakens. However, she escaped the Starkiller Base's destruction and is expected to confront Finn once again in The Last Jedi.
Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis)
The First Order mastermind is expected to make his presence known in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He was the one that influenced Ben Solo to join the dark side, targeted Luke Skywalker, and sensed that Rey reawakened the Force. Hopefully, fans will learn what makes Snoke tick and what scares him the most in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
