Although the casting department on the film adaptation of E.L. James' 50 Shades of Grey has yet to announce any of the details on just how the process will unfold, that hasn't stopped fans from tirelessly scouring the web for answers.

In terms of the role of the S&M-crazed billionaire, Christian Grey, Man of Steel's Henry Cavill seems to easily be a top contender.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the 30-year-old is one of James' favorites for the erotic part, which most likely puts him on the short list.

"E.L. James, the author of Fifty Shades of Grey, still retains some creative control and she's always been very vocal about her support for Henry in the role of Christian Grey. It's fitting really, since the novels started as Twilight fan fiction, and Stephanie Meyer originally wrote Twilight with Henry Cavill in mind for Edward," the site reported.

Cavill aside, the other top suitors for the Grey role seem to be White Collar's Matt Bomer and Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is currently almost finished penning the script, stated that it would be adhering to the context of the books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine.

Although the producers have yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, 50 Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in summer of 2014. The film will be shot in London.
