‘Ocean’s 8’ Drops Its First Official Trailer Starring Sandra Bullock And A Female All-Star Cast
Ocean's 8 has dropped its first official trailer. The film stars Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, Danny Ocean's (George Clooney) sister.
Debbie Ocean Is Free
Viewers first meet Debbie Ocean in an unidentified prison where she faces the parole board. Ocean apologizes for her crime and vowed that she wants to "pursue the simple life." As Ocean tells the unseen parole officer what they want to hear, brief facial shots off Ocean's partners flash across the screen.
The preview cuts to a New York City restaurant where Ocean meets with her right-hand woman, Lou (Cate Blanchett) and they talk about the possibility of pulling off a major heist.
"Why do you want to do this?" asked Lou.
"Cause it is what I am good at," replied Debbie.
The Recruitment Drive
The women travel across New York City to look for their perfect crew. Ocean recruits jewelry designer Amita (Mindy Kaling) who is also looking to being free from her mother's influence.
Next, they find sarcastic hacker Eight Ball (Rihanna) and fashion designer Rose (Helena Bonham Carter), who is suffering under hard times until Lou entices her to join their cause.
"What if we could make this all go away?" said Lou.
Ocean and Lou capture Constance (Awkwafina) after she steals their watches. Meanwhile, Ocean personally visits stay-at-home mom Tammy (Sarah Paulson), who is hesitant to join them. However, when Ocean whispers the target of her heist in her ear, she promptly says goodbye to her son.
The Met Heist
Once all of the women have gathered, Ocean reveals her scheme to them. Ocean plans to target Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) who owns a diamond necklace that is worth $100 million at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Met Ball.
Ocean also set her sights on an unknown man that broke her heart. However, Lou advised her friend not to go after him.
"Do not run a job in a job," forewarned Lou.
Just like in the teaser trailer, the Ocean's 8 official trailer features Debbie drinking a martini at a mausoleum. Ocean is looking at a plague with Danny Ocean's name and death date on it.
'Ocean's Eleven' Connections
While the trailer did not show any character that starred in the previous Ocean's films, fans might already know that Matt Damon is expected to reprise his role as Linus Caldwell in a cameo for the film. However, it is unknown if Damon's Linus Caldwell is going to help the women pull off this heist.
Another familiar player in the franchise, Steven Soderbergh, who directed Ocean's trilogy, will co-produce the spin-off movie.
Ocean's 8 is expected to be released on June 8, 2018.
