Matt Damon is ending the year on a rough note. The actor's recent controversial comments landed him in hot water with certain actresses who publicly slammed him for the remarks he made.

Now, the Good Will Hunting star's latest blunder might have also cost him a spot in the all-female reboot for Oceans 11.

Damon made headlines after he commented on the sex scandal that is currently sweeping through the entertainment industry. The actor noted that he was not surprised by the accusations made against Harvey Weinstein. However, he said that other allegations should be handled differently. Damon referenced comedian, Louis C.K., who publicly apologized after he was outed by five women and dropped from Netflix.

"When he came out and said, 'I did this. I did these things. These women are all telling the truth.' And I just remember thinking, 'Well, that's the sign of somebody who - well, we can work with that,'" Damon stated.

Damon also stated that he felt the media was focused too much on the men who have committed these horrendous acts rather than the ones who haven't done anything wrong at all. Damon also felt that there was a 'witch hunt' going on in Hollywood due to sexual harassment allegations.

Actresses Minnie Driver, who dated Damon in the late 90's, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan publicly criticized the actor for his insensitive comments while also stating that men don't know what "abuse" feels like.

Now, there is an online petition demanding that Damon be removed from the film Ocean's 8. Damon is set to make a cameo appearance, reprising his role as Linus Caldwell. The petition, which has already garnered over 22,000 signatures, accuses Damon of "enabling" Weinstein's behavior and ignoring it.

"Damon's inclusion [in the movie] would trivialize the serious nature of the charges against sexual abusers like Weinstein — a show of massive disrespect for the brave women speaking out," the petition stated.

Ocean's 8 star Sandra Bullock, the estranged sister of George Clooney's character, Danny Ocean, ensembles a crew of women to pull off a heist at the annual New York Met Gala.

The reboot also stars: Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham-Carter, Awkwafina, Mindy Kaling, and Cate Blanchett.

Clooney is one of the producers for the reboot.

Damon starred in Ocean's 12 and Ocean's 13 alongside George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Casey Affleck.
