Selma Blair Fired By 'Anger Management" Co-Star Charlie Sheen? Exit Confirmed by Studio
Actress Selma Blair was reportedly fired by Charlie Sheen after she criticized his professinalism on Anger Management, the show they co-starred in together, according to multiple reports.
TMZ first reported on Monday that Sheen personally fired Blair last weekend, after he told the show's executives that if she reported for work on June 17, he will "refuse to work."
Deadline Hollywood reported on Tuesday that Blair was fired by Sheen, the show's executive producer, in an expletive-filled text, which included the use of the "c word."
TMZ later reported on June 18 that Lionsgate, the studio behind the show, released a statement about Blair's exit.
"We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management and we wish her the very best," the statement reads.
After the announcement was published, Blair confirmed the exit in a tweet. "I thank you for support and love, " she wrote on her Twitter account on Tuesday.
TMZ's earlier report revealed Sheen learned that Blair complained to the show's executives about his tardiness and "shoddy" work ethic. Sheen reportedly became so upset that he threatened to quit if she wasn't fired. He mentioned Blair only has to learn two pages of lines per episode, while he has 40 pages of lines to read per show. Now that Blair is officially not returning for Deason 3, the former Two and a Half Men-star now has his eyes set on retaining actress Mila Kunis. According to the report, he wants to pay the Oz: The Great and Powerful-star $1 million per episode.
The news came as a shock to fans: on June 10 Blair paid a compliment to Sheen on Twitter.
"Thanks for a great day back @charliesheen. You looked pretty darn handsome," she wrote.
Blair played Sheen's onscreen therapist, who has a friends-with-benefits type relationship with Sheen's character. She starred in Anger Management since the show first premiered in 2012. The series is currently airing Season 2 and was picked up by FX for a 90-episode deal. Since the second season, the show has seen a decline in ratings, according to E! News.
