Harry Styles 'Don't Let Me Go' New Song Solo Debut of Single Without One Direction
Harry Styles first solo effort went viral online recently, as fans question his breakaway for U.K. band One Direction.
Don’t Let Me Go, co-written with pal Sam McCarthy, debuted on June 14 and over the next 48 hours, ticket site viagogo saw a 407 per cent increase in searches for the band’s Where We Are tour, according to The Sun. After the song's release, McCarthy tweeted on June 13, "@Harry_Styles. Trending worldwide lol. You must be quite popular x."
He also tweeted that day, "Wow! Thanks for all the nice tweets about the song. Harry did most of the words I did the music. X."
The boyband recently signed individual publishing deals so they can cash in on their own songwriting, according to the publication. A spokesman for the band assured fans that Styles is not planning a solo career, saying, "It's an old song from a year-and-a-half ago and was a demo for a possible 1D album track. It's not a solo song, nothing to get excited about."
The song's YouTube video, shown below, was uploaded June 14 on the video sharing website.
One Direction has a world tour already planned for 2014 and a third album on the way. They recently released news of a fragrance called Our Moment that will be out in stores on Aug. 25. Our Moment will be available in an Eau de Parfum spray, body lotion, rollerball and shower gel. Five days later, on Aug. 30, One Direction fans will be able to see the United Kingdom boy band in a new 3-D documentary film titled This Is Us.
