'Young and Restless' Star Michelle Stafford Joining 'General Hospital' Cast? [VIDEO]
Michelle Stafford will tape her last scenes as Phyllis Newman on The Young and the Restless Thursday and rumors already began swirling that she has a new job lined up.
"Getting ready to do my last day at work!" she tweeted. "Have loved this job so much!"
Stafford once again extended her appreciation for the 16 years she has spent at the CBS soap opera. She also told fans when her last airdate would be. She teased that the fans of Y&R would not be disappointed.
"I will air on the show through July into the beginning of Aug! There is much more to see!! VERY fun story with many twists!! Trust me!," she wrote.
In May Stafford confirmed that she would be leaving her Daytime Emmy winning role on the top rated soap opera. She told Soap Opera Digest that her run with the show was nearing its end. Many were surprised by the announcement since her character is a central figure in the unfolding paternity drama surrounding Summer Neman being Jack Abott's biological daughter.
"It has been a glorious 16 years and one of the greatest rides of my life. The constant support and love from the fans is not lost on me. I think I'll miss you the most," Stafford said at the time.
Since Stafford announced her departure, rumors have swirled that the actress will soon turn up on rival soap opera, General Hospital. On Monday, a poster began to visit various message boards with the claim that Stafford would be joining the ABC drama. However, a representative for one of those boards reached out to Enstars with a statement that the user in question was a troll who posted false information. The user was subsequently deleted and the thread was locked.
Stafford seemingly replied to the rumors on Twitter Tuesday.
“Men who start gossip have a small pee pee #fact,” she tweeted.
Stafford also fueled speculation about her post Y&R intentions when she partied with the ABC stars at their annual Emmy party on June 16. Nelson Branco, a soap columnist, commented on the matter June 17 on Twitter.
