Who run the world? Well, in regards to the Youtbue world, the answer is a resounding "GIRLS!" after Rihanna recently moved ahead of one-time crown-holder Justin Bierber in toal video views on the website, according to Billboard.

Rihanna's almost 4 billion views across 77 videoes put her a nothc above Bieber's 79 clips. The figures were tallied from both performers' respective offical VEVO pages on YouTube. Bieber aslo plays second fiddle to RiRi in regards to sucribers, with his 3.7 million falling short of her 8.7 million. Rihanna's dominance also crosses over into other social media sites: she has 72 million Facebook likes compared to Biebs' 54 million likes.

Does all this signal the impending downfall of Justin Bieber's popularity?

Bieber is still the king of Twitter. The Canadian crooner's 40 million followers is unmatched by anyone else on the social media platform. The title once held by Lady Gaga, who had a strangehold on Twitter followrs for quite a while. Even Bieber's pet cat Tuts, who recently joined Twitter, has 1,332 followers.

One reason for RiRi's dominance could be her ability to tap into both adult and teen markets with her music, a feat Bieber hasn't quite mastered, even after the release of his somewhat precocious Believe album in 2012. But the 19-year-old has several more years to catch up to the older Rihanna, 25. Making adult music before it's appropriate could be potentially harmful to his career.

Artists such as PSY are also at the top of the Youtube view count. The Gangnam Style sensation has just over 3 billion views, placing him in third place. He's followed by rapper Eminem with 2.4 billions views, Lady Gaga with 2.3 billion views and Latin entertainer Shakira with 2 billion.
