Jiah Khan Death, News Update: Postmortem Report Confirms Suicide Hanging & Bollywood Actress Talks 'Unfortunate' Event
The postmortem report of Jiah Khan concluded that the Bollywood actress died due to hanging with no external injuries found on her body, police said on Wednesday.
"The postmortem report has found that the death of Jiah Khan was due to hanging and no other external wounds were found," authorities said.
Khan, 25, hanged herself at her residence in Mumbai on June 3. The actress' mother blamed Khan's boyfriend, Suraj Pancholi, for pushing her daughter to suicide over their troubled relationship, according to NDTV. Her mother turned over to authorities a six-page suicide letter Khan allegedly wrote. Officials are investigating the note's handwriting, saying there is a suspected mismatching in Jiah's handwriting in the suicide letter when compared to other letters she had written.
Pancholi is son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan said Thursday that she does not understand why some people take the extreme step of committing suicide.
"It is very unfortunate. I hope no one ever has reason enough to end their life. I really can't imagine whether that requires courage or the opposite of that, because I have never been able to fathom why people commit suicide...I think it is very sad," Vidya told reporters in Kolkata, where she visited to promote her upcoming comic-thriller film Ghanchakkar.
Following Khan's death, a number of Bollywood stars flooded Twitter with tributes. Among them was Ram Gopal Varma, who directed Khan's debut film Nishabd. He sent out a series of tweets paying tribute to her "spunk and spirit."
