Barney The Dinosaur Actor Now A Tantric Sex Therapist
David Joyner, the man who entertained children as Barney the Dinosaur in the 90s, now runs a Tantric sex business.
From Barney The Dinosaur To Tantric Sex Therapy
According to Vice, Joyner, who played the friendly purple T-Rex on the PBS children show Barney & Friends between 1992 and 2001, is now running a tantric sex business called Tantra Harmony.
The 54-year-old, who started the practice in 2004, charges $350 for a full session that generally lasts for about three to four hours. The package includes a ritual bath, chakra balancing, as well as a message that could very well lead to an orgasm.
Joyner started the practice in 2004 and he only accepts female clients or "goddesses" as he likes to refer to them. He already has around 30 clients, whom he has acquired through word-of-mouth and by converting women he's met on Tinder to become followers. He has two to four women visiting him every week.
David Joyner's Questionable Methods
The main objective of each session is to release the client's blocked energy. However, the methods that Joyner uses are debatable. He claims that the best way for his clients to achieve a "higher and more blissful state of awareness" is through unprotected sexual intercourse.
Joyner claims condoms act as a hindrance when it comes to releasing one's blocked energy and therefore, he does not like to use them. However, he does provide his "goddesses" with his STD test results, who are also required to fill out a signed consent form to disclose any STDs before they start their session.
Vice had a chance to speak to three of Joyner's clients and none of them complained about feeling pressured or forced into sex. However, if one of his "goddesses" was to complain, Joyner could be charged with solicitation because having sex with someone in exchange for money is illegal in the state of California.
How Tantra Helped Him During 'Barney & Friends'
Joyner started studying Tantra at the age of 20 and as the attorneys for Barney & Friends said he could not pursue it while he was still under contract, he said tantrism helped him "maintain an abundance of joy during the process."
He pointed out that because of his tantra training, he was able to pull through long days on the set. His role required him to put on the 70-pound dinosaur suit for several hours while bracing through temperatures as high as 120 degrees inside the costume.
