Kate Middleton Due Date Approaches as Duchess' Birth Plans Revealed; Baby Gender Announced Via Bulletin
As Kate Middleton's due date approaches, St. James Palace released official details Wednesday about the birthing plans of the pregnant Duchess and Prince William's baby.
Royal fans now know that the couple has yet to find out about the baby's gender, despite earlier reports.
"The Duke and Duchess do not know the sex of their baby and don't want to find out," a source said.
The baby's gender won't be revealed on Twitter or any another internet blast, but rather in royal tradition--in a posted proclamation on the gate of Buckingham Palace, The Huffington Post noted. Once the bulletin is posted, it can then be put on the internet.
Middleton will deliver her baby naturally at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, where Princess Diana had Prince William, 30, and Prince Harry, 28.
Prince William will be on daddy duty and will be there on the delivery room to witness the baby birth. He is expected to go on a two-week paternity leave.
"Kate and the baby are his first priorities, not tradition and protocol," a source told Life & Style. "He wants Kate to be happy and have as much support as she needs."
If the Queen is asleep during the birth of her great granddaughter, no one is allowed to wake her up. No announcements will be made until the entire royal family including the Middleton's, the Queen and other senior members have been contacted. Also, family will only be allowed to visit Middleton at the hospital.
Middleton, 31, is due to give birth July 13.
As far as the nursery for the little boy or girl, the baby's nursery will have a warm and homey feeling to it.
"It's a neutral color with a frilly crib and a day bed and overlooks the back garden. Kate's said she'll be sleeping in her own room, so they've put a crib in that room, too," a source said.
