NBA Finals 2013 Miami Heat Winner LeBron James Talks Wedding Plans: 'I Might Have Called It Off if Heat Had Lost,' He Says
Miami Heat captain LeBron James confirmed the news that he is still set to wed his fiancée Savannah Brinson after his second NBA championship win.
James, 28, was asked what he looked forward to most following his 2013 NBA Finals game 7 win against San Antonio Spurs and he said getting married to the mother of his two sons. He joked that if Miami Heat would have lost game 7 of the 2013 NBA Finals, he might have cancelled their wedding.
"I got a wedding coming up with my beautiful fiancée. It will be an unbelievable wedding now that we've won instead of losing. I might have called it off if we had lost," James admitted.
"So now it's going to be one of the best weddings ever."
TMZ reported that James and Brinson are scheduled to wed on Sept. 13 in San Diego. The website obtained a copy of the save the date invitation. He proposed to her at a New Year's Eve party in December, 2012.
The high school sweethearts have been dating for over a decade since meeting in their hometown of Akron, OH.
James' teammate and best friend, Dwayne Wade, also had wedding bells in mind after their team's win on Thursday. He reportedly proposed to his his girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, at the team's afterparty.
Media Takeout reported on Friday that a source overheard Wade, 31, proposed to Union, 40, in front of several Miami heat teammates and close friends in the VIP section at Story nightclub in South Beach Miami Thursday night after their NBA Finals' game 7 win against San Antonio Spurs.
James was named the 2013 NBA Finals' MVP after he helped his team beat the Spurs (95-88) by scoring 37 points during the game.
