North West Baby: Rapper N.O.R.E. Approves Of Kim Kardashian-Kanye West Baby Name
It was revealed Thursday that rapper Kanye West and girlfriend Kim Kardashian have named their new baby daughter, born on Saturday, North West, as many rumored has suggested prior to the birth. The new parents have also stated that their daughter will also carry the nickname Nori.
However, while the couple have received criticism in the media, and many a strange look, there's one man who couldn't be more pleased: Queens rapper Victor Santiago, Jr., known by his rap nickname N.O.R.E.
"I'm just stoked," Santiago told MTV News on Friday.
"There's a lot of children named after Nas, there's people named after Pun, there's people named after Biggie, Jay-Z, so on and so forth, and I'm just honored that her nickname remotely sounds like my name," said the rapper, who began his career under the name Noreaga and is also known as P.A.P.I., Melvin Flynt and Mr. Goodbelt.
Santiago was told days ago by a source close to West that the baby would bear a similar nickname to his famous one, but the rapper said that he laughed off the suggestion. He was however, delighted by the confirmation.
"Congratulations to 'YeKim," he said, stating that he rejected the couple's common tabloid nickname.
"I don't call them KimYe, I think the man should come first. I think Kanye deserves that right. He's hip-hop royalty and he is a God - he is Yeezus."
What would he get the new bundle of joy? "I'm really looking for Gucci pampers online. I'm really looking for some Louis Vuitton pampers, something."
The rapper does have a loose affiliation with the Kardashian klan, as he is friendly with Kourtney Kardashian's partner Scott Disick, but he said that he was especially motivated to get the child a good gift because of their similar names.
"Now that I know the baby's nickname is remotely close to my name, I definitely want to give them something," Santiago claimed.
While MTV News suggested a name bracelet, the rapper said he thought that that situation might be be ripe for error.
"I would love to do that and misspell it on purpose, put N-O-R-E on purpose," he said jokingly.
