Joss Whedon made an appearance on The Colbert Report this week and dropped another small hint about The Avengers 2.

The sci-fi golden boy is currently making the rounds promoting his newest film, the micro-budget Shakespearean Much Ado About Nothing, but conversation always inevitably turns to his upcoming Marvel sequel.

With the recent announcement of Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the franchise as Tony Stark, Colbert questioned how Iron Man could even function in a new film following the events of this year's Iron Man 3. Colbert is referring to Stark's sudden lack of an arc reactor.

Stark originally built the arc reactor into his chest to stop shrapnel from entering his heart. However, the conclusion of Iron Man 3 saw the removal of both the shrapnel and the reactor. Without this built in reactor, the canonical source of Iron Man's suit's power disappears.

Whedon assures Colbert that the arc reactor isn't gone for good.

"Well, the just replace it. It's elsewhere," Whedon said, while gesturing to his behind. "I can't give it all away but he's still got it."

Viewers can be fairly certain Whedon was merely joking at the reactors possible new placement, but one never knows.

The Avenger's 2 will be released May 1, 2015.
