Video game and literary fans agree that Ernest Cline's Ready Player One captivated their imagination. Now, the book is heading to the silver screen.

A Surprising Poster

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, Ready Player One dropped its theatrical release poster on its official Instagram page. The poster contained countless surprises for pop culture aficionados. There are 15 items that captured the pop culture lovers' imagination.

Item 1: The DeLorean

The first item that gravitates toward the reader's eye is a DeLorean car. The DeLorean was the vehicle of choice that Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) used in the Back to the Future trilogy.

Item 2: Anorak

At the top of the Ready Player One poster sits Anorak. Anorak is the virtual reality persona of OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation) creator James Halliday (Mark Rylance). He serves as the Dumbledore, Gandalf, and Zordon figure of the game.

Item 3: 'The Iron Giant'

The Ready Player One marketing team did an incredible job of putting The Incredibles creator Brad Bird's iconic animated character in the poster. The Iron Giant featured the voices of Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick, Jr., and the late John Mahoney.

Item 4: A Metallic Creature

This intimidating creature looks like the love child between the insidious Skeletor and Marvel's legendary adversary Doctor Doom.

Item 5: The Stacks

These colossal buildings serve as the home to Ready Player One's hero Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan). In most of the dystopian 2045, many of the Earth's residents live in the stacks due to overpopulation.

Item 6: 'Space Invaders' T-Shirt

One of the characters that is featured on the poster is wearing a Space Invaders T-shirt. Space Invaders was one of the first video games that debuted in the late 1970s.

Item 7: Monster Truck

What is a monster truck doing in the dystopian future?

Item 8: Han Solo's Pants

Sheridan's Wade Watts will be making some bold fashion choices during Ready Player One. However, Sheridan will not be playing Han Solo in the near future. That honors goes to Alden Ehrenreich, who will portray the younger version of the science fiction icon in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Item 9: Large Robot With A Sword

Right next to The Iron Giant is a monstrous-sized robot. While Ready Player One has not revealed any details about the robot, it looks like a hybrid combination of the Power Rangers' Megazord and Optimus Prime.

Item 10: The OASIS Tie

Right next to Sheridan's Wade Watts, you will find a menacing Ben Mendelson, who is expected to play the film's antagonist, Nolan Sorrento. He is wearing an OASIS tie.

Item 11: Paying An Homage To 'The Breakfast Club'

Sheridan's Wade Watts triumphantly raised his right fist in triumph. This is the same posture that John (Judd Nelson) posed at the end of the iconic teen film The Breakfast Club.

Item 12: Marty McFly

Hello, Watts! It seems that Sheridan would be taking another page outside of Michael J. Fox's book, as he dressed up like the Back to the Future hero.

Item 13: A Red Fighter Ship

Ready Player One seems like it took a page out of the Star Wars universe as a red fighter ship looks like Poe Dameron's X-Wing.

Item 14: Red Pulsating Light

The DeLorean is equipped with Knight Rider's red-pulsating light.

Item 15: Tomb Raider

The final item on this list is Samantha Evelyn Cook (Olivia Cooke)'s avatar Art3mis. Art3mis might look like a familiar video game heroine: Lara Croft. While Cooke is not portraying the Tomb Raider, actress Alicia Vikander gained 12 pounds of muscle to portray the video game icon. The Tomb Raider film hits theatres on March 16.

Ready Player One is expected to be released in theatres on March 29.
