Booking Ed Sheeran as a wedding performer is the dream of many brides, but royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can actually swing it.

The guest list of the couple's nuptials in May is shrouded in secrecy, but there is sure to be a number of high-profile celebrities present on the big day. One of the people on the invite list, reports say, is the Grammy-winning musician known for his beautiful melodies and heartfelt lyrics.

A 'Perfect' Performer For The Wedding

A source tells Entertainment Tonight that the royal couple has reached out to Sheeran in hopes of having him perform at their wedding.

"Ed Sheeran has yet to confirm but I'm not sure you turn down Prince Harry and Meghan Markle," ET royal correspondent Victoria Arbiter says. "People love his romantic love songs so he's an ideal candidate for that first dance and I think Harry has always enjoyed Ed Sheeran."

As the wedding is set to be a whole-day affair, there will be plenty of chances for the "Perfect" singer to squeeze a few songs in.

However, Arbiter thinks it's likely Sheeran will be set for the reception at night. After all, this is where the newlyweds will be celebrating with close friends and family.

"It's going to be hosted by Prince Charles and so I think if Ed Sheeran is going to be performing at any of them, it's going to be [the evening reception]," she says.

The singer has already previously teased the possibility of performing for the royal couple. However, Sheeran also pointed out that he barely knows the couple and their families, having met Prince Harry just once in 2011.

Grammy-Winning Wedding Singers

If Sheeran can't make it, another renowned musician may be waiting on the wings to sing at the royal wedding.

Elton John recently rescheduled two shows set on the weekend of the royal wedding. While the official statement simply cited "a scheduling conflict" as the reason behind the altered performance schedule, there's speculation that he will be busy that weekend celebrating the union of Prince Harry and Markle.

It's not a stretch to believe the "Tiny Dancer" singer secured an invite as he was good friends with the prince's late mother, Princess Diana.

Sheeran's Own Wedding

While many couples — potentially including a prince and her bride — dance to Sheeran's songs on their special days, the British musician will be dancing at his own wedding soon. Earlier this year, Sheeran announced his engagement to longtime love, Cherry Seaborn.

The couple has known each other since childhood, but the pair only began dating in 2015.
