Jay-Z 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' Tack List Revealed [Video]
With just 10 days before Jay-Z releases his Magna Carta Holy Grail LP, the Brooklyn-born rapper took fans on a scavenger hunt, which led to a binder filled with the track list for the new album.
On Saturday someone from Jay-Z's camp, who goes by the Twitter handle @jjmonster, lead fans to locations in Brooklyn via posts on Instagram and Twitter. The wild goose chase ended with an exclusive reward--a binder, which held the track listing for Magna Carta Holy Grail.
One Youtube, user, Jason Millions, posted a video in which he flipped through the binder and revealed 13 track titles on each page.
Some of the song's titles provide a hint about their lyrical content, while others are totally ambiguous. La Familia my be an ode to Jay's new role as a family man or refer to his musical family. But granted Jay has devoted a ton of his music to his roster of artists in the past, including his 2000 album The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, the song is probably devoted to his life as a father.
Some of the lyrics for the opening track, Picasso Baby, may have been revealed during the Samsung commercial in which Jay-Z announced the release of his new album in a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the record.
""I just want a Picasso, in my casa, build a castle..." Jay raps in the ad.
The nature of some of the album's other songs, such as "F.U.T.W.", are left a mystery because of their obscure titles. The album's features are also withheld, although Jay-Z has been photographed producing music with artists such as Nas, Raekwon, Drake and Justin Timberlake.
