'50 Shades Of Grey' Movie Cast: Ian Somerhalder Addresses Casting Speculation Surrounding Him [VIDEO]
While it's nothing new that Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder is a frontrunner for the groundbreaking role of the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey, the actor continues to be questioned about it at an astounding rate.
The 34-year-old recently dished to Metro about 50 Shades, and gave his take on the popularity of the movie as a whole.
"One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project. Everyone has to realize every guy in Hollywood is up for this role. It could be anyone - that's how that goes," he said.
Although Somerhalder seems to be playing the prospect of such a role down, there are undoubtedly several fans that are surely pulling for him to nab it.
News had surfaced in May that the actor had broken up with TV series co-star Nina Dobrev, causing speculation on if the racy Grey part had anything to do with it.
50 Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is currently almost finished penning the film script, stated that it would be adhering to the context of E.L. James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness.
Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine. The movie is slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014.
