Demi Lovato Dad Died: 'X Factor' Judge Breaks Silence via Twitter, Ex-Boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama Her 'Rock'? VIDEO
Demi Lovato broke her silence about her father's death via Twitter.
"RIP Daddy.. I love you.. Love, Your little partner," she tweeted on Tuesday along with a photo of her as a toddler smiling at her father Patrick.
She's also reportedly found comfort in her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama. A source told HollywoodLife.com that the actor "is her rock and he has been in constant contact with her, both by text and in person, during this difficult time and he'll continue to be her shoulder to cry on."
The news of Lovato's father's death broke when her sister Dallas Lovato tweeted on June 22, "Rest in peace daddy I love you." Others who have shown support for Demi include her X Factor co-stars.
"My thoughts are with you Demi. X," Simon Cowell tweeted on Sunday.
Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt also sent Demi some kind words. "Sending my thoughts to Demi Lovato and her family. My condolences during this tough time," she wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
Demi thanked everyone for their support and on Sunday tweeted, "I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers. God bless you all, thank you so much."
Demi and her late father had been estranged for approximately five years. She spoke in the past about the difficult relationship she had with him, and how she expressed those emotions through her music.
"There's one song in particular, For the Love of a Daughter, about my relationship with my birth father," she told The New York Daily News in a 2009 interview. The song appears on her third studio album Unbroken.
"You try to have faith in somebody, even when you're the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you've been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don't know what else to do," she also said after revealing the two hadn't spoken in two years. "I had to cut off all connection. It was hurting me too much. Writing about that subject on the album will probably surprise some people."
Despite their estrangement, Demi's father spoke with Inside Edition in 2010 and said, "I love my little girl so much."
