Halle Berry is speaking out in defense of celebrity children.

The pregnant X-Men: Days of Future Past star took to the podium to advocate for stronger rules protecting children from being photographed by the paparazzi.

In a proposed bill, titled SB 606, the definition of harassment would be broadened to include photographing or recording a child without first obtaining the express permission of a parent or legal guardian, according to the Los Angeles Times.

According to the actress, her daughter is constantly frightened by paparazzi and once believed that the photographers were there to kill them. The 5-year-old child was frightened when Berry, fiancé, and her daughter were besieged by the press at the Los Angeles International Airport in April.

"[Photographers] jump out of bushes, they jump out of cars, they come from behind buildings, who knows where they come from," Berry said on Tuesday in front of the Assembly Committee on Public Safety, according to the Los Angeles Times. "They cause chaos, they cause fear."

The opposition to the bill comes from those looking to protect First Amendment Rights.

"It sweeps legitimate newsgathering activities into the new definition of harassment and exposes everyday activities that journalists do to criminal and civil liability," said Jim Ewert of the California Newspaper Publishers Association, according to CBS.

The bill passed the Assembly Committee on Public Safety now moves to the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
