A household name that's been brought up in Fifty Shades of Grey casting chatter quite frequently has now resurfaced once again in actor Robert Pattinson.

The Twilight standout "may have just become the frontrunner to play Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation," according to Moviefone.

The website reported that if the guest list for a recent E.L. James shindig is any indication of who she favors as the S&M-crazed billionaire, then Pattinson would be the most ideal choice.

In the past, the author hasn't been shy about her admiration for the 27-year-old, as the 50 Shades reads were initially penned as fan fiction for the Twilight series, which starred Pattinson as Edward Cullen, a character that Grey was based on.

Other actors that are seemingly strong contenders for the groundbreaking role include Ryan Gosling, Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer and Alex Pettyfer, amongst a slew of other notables.

50 Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is currently almost finished penning the movie script, stated that it would be adhering to the context of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine. The highly anticipated flick is slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014. Pattinson can be watched addressing the 50 Shades buzz in a video below.
