Melissa Stetten Accuses Donald Trump Jr. Of Sending ‘Lewd’ Tweets To Her Years Before Divorce From Vanessa
Two days after Vanessa Trump filed for divorce from Donald Trump Jr., the First Son got an unexpected blast from his past.
Who Is Melissa Stetten?
One person that is not surprised that Trump Jr.'s relationship with Vanessa had evaporated is former model Melissa Stetten. On Thursday, March 15, just hours after the news about the Trumps' divorce broke, Stetten posted a surprising message to her nearly 47,000 followers on Twitter.
"Surprised his marriage didn't work out since he was sending me DMs a month after his wife gave birth. (I tweeted a joke about pulling a muscle changing a tampon and he replied asking if I smelled bacon? Cool Joke)," wrote Stetten in a tweet that was transcribed by Newsweek.
Stetten also added a photo of the exact message from Trump Jr., which revealed that he faced a backlash from the joke and said that he decided not to request for photos of her in her bathroom. The message was dated Nov. 20, 2011. Before the two got into an exchange on Twitter, Stetten said the real estate tycoon followed her out of the blue.
"He started following me so I just followed back. He would favor my tweets and occasionally reply. I always thought of the Trumps as idiots so it was entertaining to see his failed attempts at hitting on me," said Stetten to People Magazine.
She also shared a previously deleted tweet from Nov. 20, 2011. Stetten baited Trump Jr. by using their bacon analogy. Trump Jr. replied back that he was 'a married man,' but also added a winking emoji.
Breaking Silence On Instagram
Trump Jr. broke his social media silence to share a cute selfie for his 1.5 million Instagram followers. In the photo, Trump Jr. is seen lying next to his 3-year-old daughter Chloe.
He revealed that no matter the circumstances of his upcoming divorce, he would always value moments with his children. In addition to Chloe, he is also father to Kai, Donald III, Spencer, and Tristan.
The Divorce
On Thursday, March 15, Vanessa filed divorce papers at a New York City Supreme Court. It is expected that Trump Jr.'s soon-to-be ex-wife does not want to transform this divorce into an ugly custody battle. Also, Vanessa is likely not to be targeting the Trump assets. The couple released a joint statement asking for the press to keep their distance.
Unraveling A Marriage
Friends and allies of both Vanessa and Trump Jr. stated that this divorce was a long time coming. Many believe that the final act that caused the marriage to disintegrate was when Vanessa opened an envelope at the couple's New York City residence. Inside was a threatening message and a mysterious white powder. Although it was revealed to be cornstarch, Vanessa was shaken by the incident.
Also, many of Trump Jr.'s supporters believed that his aggressive tone on Twitter played a role in his failing marriage. He attacked a Parkland, Florida shooting survivor and showed off controversial photos of his hunting expeditions. Plus, his responsibilities for the Trump Organization, which included traveling at extended lengths of time, distanced the couple.
Divorce Dramas
Trump Jr. and Vanessa are not the only celebrity couple to get divorced in the public spotlight. Fox News host Jesse Watters' wife recently filed for divorce after she learned that the television personality had an affair with a 25-year-old production assistant. Also, Jim Belushi's third wife, Jennifer Sloan, filed for divorce against the According to Jim star on the 36th death anniversary of his brother, Saturday Night Live original cast member John Belushi. Jim and Sloan were married for nearly 20 years.
