Blake Shelton Reveals 'Humiliating' Story About ‘The Voice’ Coach Adam Levine On ‘Tonight Show’
Blake Shelton always loves picking on his frenemy, Adam Levine. However, Shelton revealed a surprising story that showcased a new side to The Voice coach.
Someone Made Adam Cry
The NBC singing competition's six-time winning coach made a stop on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon while he was in New York City. He revealed one of the biggest pranks that he pulled on Adam Levine. It happened when the Maroon 5 frontman was with the "Honey Bee" singer and their longtime friend, Kelly Clarkson.
According to Shelton, he invited both music superstars to his Oklahoma ranch during New Years' Eve. It was convenient for Levine because Maroon 5 was playing at a nearby casino, but Shelton invited Clarkson who still lived in Texas to come and make fun of the "Moves Like Jagger" singer.
Fallon asked Shelton if someone made Levine cry and Shelton spilled the beans.
According to Entertainment Daily, the trio was celebrating New Year's Eve and had Levine as their designated driver while they were driving through Oklahoma. However, their merriment transformed into a moment of terror for Levine as their vehicle was pulled over by an Oklahoma deputy.
"Not that we don't respect the police, but we knew we hadn't done anything wrong. So, you can be a little cocky, or you know, at that point. We got a designated driver, why are you pulling us over?" said Shelton to Fallon in a statement transcribed by Entertainment Daily.
However, Levine was not in the mood to be stuck in jail with Shelton or Clarkson. So, he tried to play nice with the Oklahoma cop. Unfortunately, his fellow passengers went on to roast the Oklahoma law enforcer, and Shelton revealed that Clarkson roasted the police officer so severely that Levine was almost in tears.
"He was like, 'Kelly, shut up! Kelly, shut up,'" said Shelton in a statement transcribed by E! News.
'The Voice' Roundup
Shelton's latest venture to New York City comes off a day after he revealed another secret about one of his coaches. The "I'll Name the Dogs" singer stated that Clarkson still fan-girls over his girlfriend, former The Voice coach Gwen Stefani. This fascination and friendship might stem from the multiple group dates that Clarkson, Stefani, and Shelton go on with Clarkson's husband and Shelton's manager, Brandon Blackstock. Clarkson even admitted that she was in awe of Stefani's house in Los Angeles when she visited it. The "Love So Soft" singer even stated that Stefani's home reminded her of a scene from Pretty Woman.
While Stefani is not on the show this season, she is rooting for The Voice to win big in the show's ratings war with American Idol. However, Shelton might need to be credited for giving the ABC singing competition one of its new judges. Luke Bryan revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers that it was Shelton who advised him on how to get the coveted American Idol judge job.
