Hours after Rolling Stone obtained court documents, which revealed The Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am filed a lawsuit against fellow hitmaker Pharrell Williams, the Boom Boom Pow rapper took to his Twitter account to debunk the report.

Will.i.am reportedly took legal action against Williams, because he claimed the N.E.R.D. rapper's new venture "i am OTHER" and the accompanying logo infringe on his "I AM" copyright. Will.i.am, real name William James Adams, attempted to downplay the legal action he took against Williams via several tweets.

"i.am not suing ‪@Pharrell and I never was... what i.am doing is ‪#iamangel TRANS4Ming inner cities with ‪#STEAM tools... ‪https://www.iamangelfoundation.org," Adams tweeted three times yesterday.

The seven-time Grammy award-winning producer not only trivialized the rift with Pharrell with his tweet, he also attempted to deflect attention to his i.am angel foundation (the charity provides funding for underprivileged children to attend college through the i.am scholarship program). In doing so, Will.i.am cleverly bolstered his case against Pharrell by showcasing and laying claim to his "I AM" trademark.

Will.i.am did admit that he believed Pharrell's new brand was a bit too similar to his "registered and common law trademarks," the producer's lawyer Ken Hertz explained in a statement to the Daily News.

""They disagree. We hope to work out a sensible compromise that will allow both parties to move forward without unnecessary acrimony," Hertz added in the statement.

In his own statement to Rolling Stone, before Will.i.am's tweets, Williams expressed dismay and said he wished his fellow beat-maker, would of contacted him directly before taking the matter to court.

"I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me," Pharrell said in a statement to the music magazine. "I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions."

Williams also said he beleived Will.i.am's accusation were "meretless" but is yet to respond to Will.i.am's tweets and statement to the Daily News.
